Getting it right with ladders
Aug 19, 2010

Most organisations have some form of ladder in their business, whether it be airline- type ladders in the warehouse or stepladders for the high shelves in the stationery cupboard. Ladders can be the ideal item of access equipment when correctly chosen and used safely by competent people. However, there are many serious accidents each year resulting from the incorrect use of ladders.
The Ladder Association has recently revised its code of practice and has produced a new document aimed at employers and ladder users. New sections in the updated Code include current best practice on how to erect a ladder, stability and footing of a ladder and how best to climb a ladder.
This updated code is a great source of guidance and advice for all employers who have concerns over ladder use in their business.
