Wilby staff go the extra mile (or 367) for Charity!
May 1, 2012

There will be a few aches and pains in the Wilby Ltd office this month as a number of our staff take part in fundraising events for charities! Our staff raise thousands for charities every year but May is a particularly busy month with two major fundraising events taking place and a combined total of 367 miles being run & cycled to raise money for two worthy charities.
Great Manchester Run
On 20th May 14 members of our staff (Anthony Heywood, Casey Teal, Ken Gardiner, Andy Hudson, Robert Helliwell, Warren Kay, Chris Shannon, Tom Drake, Hollie Robinson, Mark Studholme, Andy Woods, Andy Taylor, Sharon Taylor and William Morris) once again be competed in the Great Manchester Run for the benefit of Overgate Hospice.
Overgate Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults in the Calderdale area. All patients have a life-limiting, advanced, progressive illness. Last year thanks to your generous donations we were able to raise over £1,000 for this very good cause and we hope that we can count on your support as we aim to beat that total this year, which will be the 6th time Wilby staff have run for Overgate Hospice.
Pedal For Pounds 3
On the 2nd of May our Managing Director, Richard Blackburn, along with 300 other cyclists took part in the Yeovil to Huddersfield ‘Keep it Up’ bike ride on behalf of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity. The 280 mile ride commenced on Wednesday 2nd May 2012 from Yeovil and arrived in Huddersfield on Saturday 5th May 2012 in time for the last home game of the season against the Glovers, which resulted in a 2 - 0 win for Huddersfield.
We are all aware of the service the Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides in 999 situations, but to maintain and enhance this service they need to raise a considerable amount of money every year, it costs a staggering £7,200 per day to keep the Yorkshire Air Ambulances maintained and in the air! Richard's target is to raise a minimum of £1,500. In total the team raised £250,000.
