Park Owner Fined £16,000 Following Gas Leaks
Jan 1, 2010
The owner of a Doncaster caravan park was fined £16,000 with £7,500 costs in March 2008 after leaving tenants exposed to gas leaks, leading to a risk of explosion and high levels of carbon monoxide. The owner said she was unaware that her responsibilities as a landlady, to undertake maintenance and obtain gas safety certificates, applied to mobile homes as well as other properties. HSE inspectors capped off the gas supply to three caravans where the propane gas supply was leaking and flues on water heaters had not been connected. During subsequent checks CORGI registered engineers found serious faults on nearly all 30 caravans on site, none of which had gas safety certificates.
