Fireworks

As we fast approach 5th November many Holiday Parks will be hosting their own firework display. Here we explain our top 10 tips for hosting a safe fireworks display:

  1. The Police and Fire Brigade authorities should be consulted at least seven days before the event and their recommendations complied with in full
  2. An event risk assessment should be carried out by the organiser or appointed firework contractor
  3. There should be an adequate drop zone, for the fall-out of rockets and other debris, downwind of spectators of at least 50 metres
  4. The firework displays and bonfires should be sited at least 100 metres from any buildings or vehicles and there should be no roads, railways, overhead cables, woodland, bracken or similar combustible materials in the immediate vicinity
  5. Smoking should not be allowed anywhere near the fireworks
  6. Any person firing fireworks should never return to fireworks which do not light first time, 30 minutes should be allowed to elapse before approaching the fireworks and carefully dousing with water
  7. Spectators should be kept at least 25 metres from the display/bonfire and the display area should be roped off
  8. There should be at least one steward in attendance for every 250 spectators
  9. Qualified first aid personnel should be in attendance and means of summoning emergency assistance available
  10. You should inspect the site the next day in daylight to ensure no fireworks have been left on the site
