DXW is a rapidly developing software house in central London. Since inception they had been insured with Hiscox Direct. Their insurance policy was on a continuous basis with an annual declaration at the anniversary date of 31 July. The documents from Hiscox gave very little policy information, (mainly turnover parameters) and a Duty of Disclosure. The client revenue has been increasing 100% year on year and forecast to double again. The client recognised this year that the policy coverage and estimates on the Hiscox papers were inaccurate compared to previous declarations and after over 3 months of negotiations, they had still not managed to increase their cover in line with their current sums insured and policy estimates. More importantly, Hiscox had advised they were not willing to continue providing Public Indemnity cover and had just issued a 7 day cancellation notice. Annual premium spend was indicated at £1100 but it was acknowledged this was wildly incorrect and client was very concerned.
What we did
DXW appointed Wilby immediately to discuss with Hiscox and seek alternative quotes. Following Wilby intervention, Hiscox Leeds immediately revoked the cancelation and focused on getting cover in order. Wilby Account Executive, Lynne Noble conducted a full review of clients business activities and cover requirements which resulted in Hiscox agreeing to update their cover. Wilby managed client expectations from the outset and finally agreed terms on the correct basis. The correct annual premium is over £6,000 which demonstrates just how out of date the previous policy was.
The policy documents have now been issued promptly to the client, who is delighted with the result and Lynne was invited to their Christmas party in Shoreditch!
